"Asking for help isn’t giving up,” said the horse。 “It’s refusing to give up。”On normal days I would have given this a three (or even two) stars。 I could be a cold, unfeeling, critical soul at times。 Yes, the illustrations are amazing。 But that's where the appeal stops。 Most times it feels disjointed。And the mole only has one motivation: cake。But then this book came at a time when I could use all the wisdom and comfort it offers, bask in the "power of friendship", be taught to ask for help。 Feel "Asking for help isn’t giving up,” said the horse。 “It’s refusing to give up。”On normal days I would have given this a three (or even two) stars。 I could be a cold, unfeeling, critical soul at times。 Yes, the illustrations are amazing。 But that's where the appeal stops。 Most times it feels disjointed。And the mole only has one motivation: cake。But then this book came at a time when I could use all the wisdom and comfort it offers, bask in the "power of friendship", be taught to ask for help。 Feel。 These days it's so hard to feel。I loved the illustrations, the times when they are mere ink doodles and those times when they are colored。 I loved the horse's kindness and the fox's quiet, and the boy's positivity。 And yes, the mole's craving for cake is something I can relate to。 It is not feel, not at all profound, but it is beautiful in a simple, childlike manner even a jaded soul would appreciate。 。。。more

I love it。 I would recommend this to everyone and their dog。 It's so wholesome and relaxing。 The art is beautiful, the writing is beautiful。 My life is infinitely better for having this book in it to reread when I'm stressed out。 I love it。 I would recommend this to everyone and their dog。 It's so wholesome and relaxing。 The art is beautiful, the writing is beautiful。 My life is infinitely better for having this book in it to reread when I'm stressed out。 。。。more

3。5 starsI am a little disappointed!Everyone has been raving about this book and I received 2 copies for Christmas as my friends love it so much。I adored the illustrations, they were beautiful! However I wish the writing was more of a story rather than a collection of random quotes。 I think this would have tied it really nicely together and been a better overall narrative。 There were also a few quotes that I didn't like。 Overall a sweet book but I think it could be improved。 3。5 starsI am a little disappointed!Everyone has been raving about this book and I received 2 copies for Christmas as my friends love it so much。I adored the illustrations, they were beautiful! If you don’t feel a lump in your throat whilst reading this book。。。。。 oh my goodness! This book isn’t just for kids, it’s for anyone whose suffered mental health issues like depression and anxiety because it encapsulates all the things you need to hear。 It’s beautiful, it’s poetic, it’s sublime (and I’ve never used/said that word in my life!) So glad I picked it up on a whim! Now don’t mind me, I need to go find a tissue! x

I did not understand this one。 The font I’m torn about - whilst it’s intimate to read the authors own hand writing, it’s also extremely messy and headache inducing to read。 I guess it does slow the reader down, otherwise this book could be read in an hour。 This felt like Instagram poetry and maybe I’m missing something? Someone’s obviously put at most an hour into this book and spent the other 2 hours on the illustrations。 I’m just not seeing where people are getting the epiphanies from。 There i I did not understand this one。 The font I’m torn about - whilst it’s intimate to read the authors own hand writing, it’s also extremely messy and headache inducing to read。 I guess it does slow the reader down, otherwise this book could be read in an hour。 This felt like Instagram poetry and maybe I’m missing something? Extremely easy and heartwarming book。 Learning the importance of friendships and recognizing that love comes in many forms were the main themes and the illustrations beautifully captured that。 The essence of companionship and love were embedded with every pen stroke and sketch in this。 I’m so glad I got the chance to read this。 It was beautiful。

Genuinely incredible。 First of all, Charlie Mackesy’s artwork is beyond sensational。 Each page could be framed as an individual piece。 Second of all, the story and book in general just has a beautiful positivity to it which is amazing and really wholesome。 The details in the illustrations and wording isn’t like anything I have seen before! Was so easy to read and couldn’t take my eyes off the drawings at the same time。 Highly highly highly highly recommend 👏🏻

The only thing I need to say here is that you should get this book for anyone struggling or going through something。 My dad gave this to me for Christmas, and on bad days, I open and take in a few pages to remind myself that the world is still wonderful。

This book is so beautiful and well written! I lent it to my teacher and she was amazed by it! The world needs this。

Any fan of Winnie the Pooh or The Giving Tree, anyone who has ever struggled with mental health, anyone who is feeling lost or alone - literally anyone, everyone needs to read this book。This book was gifted to me, so I went into it blind with no prior expectations。 I made it through about two pages before I started crying。 I'm not sure that I can articulate just how special this book already is to me。 I finished it in a matter of minutes and then went back through the artwork slowly。 There is so Any fan of Winnie the Pooh or The Giving Tree, anyone who has ever struggled with mental health, anyone who is feeling lost or alone - literally anyone, everyone needs to read this book。This book was gifted to me, so I went into it blind with no prior expectations。 I made it through about two pages before I started crying。 I'm not sure that I can articulate just how special this book already is to me。 I finished it in a matter of minutes and then went back through the artwork slowly。 There is something so raw about the emotion that is captured in each word and image。 I had a positive but visceral reaction to almost every page, every picture。 Reading this book feels like being hugged。 。。。more

This is a wonderful book for any age。 The illustrations are beautiful。 Lovely story with words that make you laugh or with words that give you hope。

This book is gorgeous, and I am thinking of which friends I would like to gift with a copy as I write the review。 On the flipside, the story is not earth-shattering, and without the beautiful font and gorgeous artwork, the book would certainly not warrant publication。 There are a few gems, however, that would make absolutely beautiful greeting cards。 It is a quick read, and one that I might see myself picking up and looking at when I need encouragement。

Rebecca

Een beetje oppervlakkige zoetsappigheid die in net wat andere teksten al vaak zijn langskomen op social media, maar desalniettemin best schattig en de tekeningen zijn echt prachtig。

Comforting and simply enchanting。 ❤️
